>You haven't gotten to explaining the principle behind abortion so that it can be explored as to what that has to do with the practice and acceptability of abortion.< Of course I have not gotten to explaining the principle. It is the burden of one who asserts the acceptability of abortion to first prove the principle by which it is acceptable. Remember, we speak here of civilized human relationships and not animalism. Because the human fetus exists on a human continuum, the person who desires to kill it within the parameters of human civilized relations must support its expendability. If that person cannot do this via reason and yet kills the fetus anyway, then that person engages in pure barbarism. He kills merely because he can. I contend that most abortions result of pure animal barbarism. Indeed it is far worse than this because animals do not routinely kill in the same manner as pro-choicers. >There does seem clearly to be cases where extermination of the fetus makes sense; rape, incest, life of the mother. Not to limit it to that, but for starters.< Well then, if we should find these cases clearly permit the civilized extermination of a human fetus, then we will have found that a sound basis exists for these sorts of abortions. I do not doubt that some abortions are not barbarous. Indeed I have all along said as much. But this certainly does not allow us to accept abortion in general, anymore than killing in self-defense allows us to accept killing in general. Some abortions are perhaps acceptable, but I believe abortion as it is most commonly used, is pure barbaric murder. (Gotta run)
