milehigh,

<<''The Y2K Tidal Wave'' >>

the surfers around here will like that.

we concentrate a lot on rmbs in PC's here...did you know that PC's will only account for 37% of rmbs revenues? 11% will come from servers, the remaining 52% or more from "other" rambus tech and rdram uses. this "other" is going gangbusters with new uses being announced weekly.

the math looks like this. 50% of rdram production is for PC's, 15% for servers, 35% for other. the 35% for other earns 2x the royalties.
(50 + 15 + <35x2>)=135...
the 50% of production for PC's = 37% of revs. (50/135=37)
the 15% " servers= 11% of revs. (15/135=11)
the 35% " other uses= 52% of revs. (35x2=70/135=52)

we spend a lot of time here on discussing the pc use of rdram. the "other" story is bigger, much bigger. that is why the sony announcement that you posted is so huge.

Mile, everyone is talking about the Y2K crisis, I wonder is there is a DOW 10 K crisis looming because some systems have limited the Dow "field" to only 4 digits? (VBG).
