Your real estate analysis is really a very good way of comparing the two situations.

IMO though, the problem has been that the company HAS NOT revealed to the bondholders who the investor is. They have not done so because it would only make them want more money. The bondholders were not hesitant because they fear this is a bad deal. They were hesitant because, they suspect how good it is. These are unsecured creditors, however I am certain that they saw this as an opportunity to get a piece of the spinoff or whatever.

Good news is, the company has enough cash on hand to easily simply redeem all the bonds and re issue them once the ipo is complete. It was easier not to do this, but if they have to, I'm certain that is the way they will go. The bondholders know this too. I am guessing that they cut a deal with them and are simply doing the paperwork and getting signature. That would take a few days. Alternatively, they told them to stuff it and are redeeming the bonds. Either one would take a few days.

As I have said before. I am certain this will not stop any deal. Hold it up, sure, never stop. In the meantime we are reaping the HUGE benefit of stock appreciation pre ipo. That cannot be discounted.<<
