hi chirodoc, re:<< i asked steve harmon the noted internet analyst who he thought would win the phone vs. cable race and was surprised with his answer. assuming he is right, can anyone name a few great companies that could be the gorillas in that space?>>

Assuming he is right? Why would you assume he is right? This guy is just an entertainer, not an analyst. He's an inferior product that is cleverly marketed, and has now even stooped to the rumor-monger role.

His "analysis" is a paper-thin copy of buzzwords pulled from the trade press. He seldom says anything that is truly useful, and most of his so-called analysis shows his lack of understanding of anything but the 10,000 foot view because he replicates the same mistaken understandings of (most of) the trade press.

Take this typical example of his 'wisdom' pulled from your quote:
"i see cable internet wanting to deliver a more 'tv-like' viewing experience..."

Duh!!! Imagine that! TV programming providers wanting to deliver a more "TV-like" experience.

The rest of the quote is equally ho-hum. Forecasting 3-5 years out is a game ANYBODY can play. No training or experience required! Nobody can PROVE you wrong! What a job to have...and get paid for it!

As for gorillas in the true Geoffrey Moore sense, there won't be any in this space. Transaction Services is not gorilla territory.
