Lewis is a nice guy. He gave more than $1.6 million - a few years ago when he was not so rich, to fund a boys boxing club in the poor east-end of London, where he was rased.. That is a lot more than the British boxers do who critcise him.

I think he may have been overcautious with Holyfield. He used to be much more savage until that time he lost his title to a "closed eyes" lucky punch from Oliver McCall. Ever since then Lewis tends to back off when he has his man on the ropes. He seems to have a superstitious fear that he will be prey to another such punch.

Did you see his interview immediately after the match? He was very up. He said Holyfield was like an old man, very slow, and he did not hurt him once. He also said that he expected that in a King fight they would try everything to deny him the title; that he doesn't think Holyfield will want to fight him again, but he will do it in a month.

His manager was even more forthright He said it was a "con" he was "robbed" by "crooked people".

I heard today that Holyfield has a kind of excuse - he has a mandatory defence against Akawande (?). But Akawande said today that if he is paid a fee he will step aside to let the rematch go ahead.

BTW Mexco is a good team - always has been. Great goalie. Too bad for the US but it is improving too.
