Yahoo post: EVERYONE READ THIS. IT SAYS ALOT by: Icey1_99 37310 of 37312 about the future. And we are definately in the right place at the right time. IDT mentioned with excite and Netscape EXCITE TARGETS EUROPEAN USERS ============================================= It is increasingly being predicted that the US Internet market is reaching saturation point and that within the next five years the non-US online population will outnumber the US online population. eMarketer forecasts that the non-US portion of the world will have more net users than the US by the year 2000 and Europe will be a significant part of the global Internet audience. IDC also predicts that there will be an explosion in the number of non-US Internet users over the next five years. Europe, therefore, is increasingly being seen as an attractive market for outside investment. ---------------- In the light of this, Excite has chosen to focus its attention on its European customers with its new Net2Phone service. In partnership with IDT (who offer a similar service, SmartUpdate, in partnership with Netscape), Excite are offering a service to its users that allows them not only to look up phone numbers anywhere in the world, but to dial them directly from a PC without having to disconnect from the Internet. ---------------- "Europe now is like America was two years ago," says Evan Rudowski, director of European operations for Excite. "In the United State, the race right now is to personalise sites. In Europe, everyone's racing to establish brand." ---------------- At the beginning of August Excite began offering free e-mail from its UK site and the same offer was announced in Germany a week later. IDT, which specialises in low-cost long-distance calls over the Internet, has lowered its international rates to Germany, the Netherlands and the UK to 10 cents a minute. paulberg.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
