Shalom greatly knows the danger of roving psychos. Most of which now hitch hike. Remember that years and years ago the hitch hikers were usually down and out, basically Christian human beings, without a car. The hippy era brought hitchhiking back as a group initiation to a hidden society. Now it is where serial killers and robbers apparently practice their craft.

Remember that, please. My own ultimate warning against picking up of "angels unawares" or those lost souls in need of a good talking to about Jesus, came from a practiciing satanist from San Francisco, who told me who he was, and that satan had tried to get him to do something horrible to us while we PUT HIM UP FOR THE NIGHT IN OUR WONDERFUL LITTLE CHRISTIAN HOME. He literally begged me to stop doing it, and said that he could get in a lot of trouble even saying that. (I knew waht he meant, he meant in the spirit realm where he operated.) It was all very spooky, but I listened, and that was then end of it for me. I cannot and will not do it anymore, even here in safe little Americana where I live. The thing about this safe little Americana, you don't HAVE any hitch hikers. That's very good, and very safe and sound, when you think about it. Love it. Hope it stayys this way, but even in two years I see the darkness slowly filling up little neighborhoods here and there, and 3 drug dealing busts lately, and one little girl almost lured into a car. I hope the town panics NOW while they can still hold back the bursting dam.

Just my free speech thoughts under the First.

Again, another thought. Christ would have us die for our NEIGHBOR, not a practicing satan worshipper, who has become notohing more than a demon possessed fiend, doing favors to receive favors in Hell.

We are dealing more and more with an army of the totally insane and those who thrive on and crave horrendous experiences. And that through direct orders fed into their mind from Hell.

If this were not the fact, probably as many Christians would be picking up people as they used to. Most of us learned the hard way or had a close associate who was the victim instead. There's that side of the coin too, right?

I read both of your recent posts and wanted to say, and hope Shalom will understand that my story and the verse I cannot find (believe me, I hunted, but couldn't find it) were not meant to be negative criticisms pointed specifically at him

Is this the verse you were looking for?

Matt. 25:
31 "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory.
32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 "Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,
36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?
39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'
40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,
43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'
44 "They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'
45 "He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'
46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Not at all Mike, but they just don't apply in the hitch hiker situation!
Mike you wrote:
I find that Christians, those who have some means, are highly unlikely to place
themselves at some risk when doing something they know would be of a benefit for
the glorification of Christ.

This is not only untrue but very unfair.
Christians, especially as you say, those who have the means, are some of the greatest workers for the glorifucation of Christ. Those who especially put themselves at danger ever day by going to far off dangerous lands, where most people would not dare to tread. I know of many personally who put their lives on the line daily in disease ravaged and civil unrest countries. There are also thousands upon thousands of Christians with means as you say, who daily go out of their safe havens into the dangerous ghettos of this country, solely for the glorification of Jesus Christ. Some return safely to their safe havens, some do not.

Without these hard working Christians with the means,(BTW, hard at work is the means by which they attain the means) millions of other Christians would not be so blessed to be able to carry the gospel to those who have not.

The bottom line is this: there is no place in the word of God that teaches in order to be a disciple of Christ one must put his life in danger.
You also wrote this:

I have also noticed an odd irony. Why is it that Christians
are just as fearful of death as those who are not

There is no irony here Mike, mainly because it is not a true statement. No disciple of Christ fears death. We realize that we have a more perfect life with Chrtist in heaven. Because tyou see Mike we understand that it is only the flesh that dies Not the spirit that lives within us.

I actually do look forward to being with God in Heaven, but I do not relish dying a premature death at the hands of any crazed lunatic.
And for the same reason, I do all that is within my control to stay healthy in avoiding those things which I know can bring on diseases that some effort to avoid would be in my interest, and in the interest of those who love me and whom I love. Common sense and wisdom!

And for the same reason we Christians teach our children the same things that others do... not to talk to strangers, even though we as Christians, know that when they get to heaven they will be forever in glory.Wouldn't we as Christians be insane if we took that attitude to (well we are not afraid to die..cause we will be with Jesus) to it's extreme, as you suggested?... We are to protect ourselves the same way we are to protect our children...from the hands of would be criminals.! We are not second class citizens without any wisdom. And we are not to make ourselves easy targets for the criminals of this world!

Again you wrote Mike:
Also, with regard to one's
family, if the Christian has been diligent in prayer for his or her family, God will be
faithful and just to answer those prayers and take care of one's family.

God expects us to do our part .! This means taking all steps necessary to always be there for our family. And never putting ourselves in unnecessary danger. Do you think it please God when some lunatic with malice takes the life of one of His Children? Do you think He says "O well, he/she is better off up here with me anyway!"?

Come on Mike, It is really not difficult at all to figure out. Sure there is some fear of death to a young vibrant Christian, and that is healthy anything else is out of human character. It is only when we are on death's doorstep that the peace that surpasses all peace fills us, and this can be in the young and old. This is the peace that is given to us by our Lord Jesus the Christ.

Consider all the martyrs of Christianity that were (and still are) being tortured and suffered horrendous deaths, and then tell me you still think it is strange that Christians fear death.

Have a good day Mike
Shalom...><>
