This message is to bring to your attention an internet only index comprised of the top twelve blue-chip internet stocks that was started on SI. If you invested in this index on Januaary 2,1999 you would be up 59% for the year. If you held the components of the index all last year you would be up over 450%. The purpose of the index is to take advantage of the power of the internet while reducing the risks of buying individual stocks. It has many advantages an internet fund does not have including defering capital gains till the index is sold, no fees, etc. etc. If you find this subject intesesting please take a look a the main thread called TOP TEN INTERNET COMPANIES FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS. I will post the link to the thread below.
Subject 24173

<<DSL vs. cable by James Wheeler...>>The most fallacious comment I ever read:

1) I have yet to hear an xyz@Home subscriber complaining about their local cable company to force them to buy a cable modem for $300 or lease on for $25-30 a month. The fact is, the cable company includes the cable modem in its $39.95 monthly charge. The one time installation charge is $100.

2) L.A. Times comment. We have analyzed this to death in ATHM thread and Motley Fool thread. LA Times was simply an exaggerated commentary about ATHM's problem. So far there has never been a wide-scale break down of its network. And so far no wide scale @Home user backlash.
Problems do exist in a spotty part of the region they are servicing. These problems were only temporary and were quickly fixed. Most @Home user, including me, are happy customers.

The other things are not worth commenting on...

I never thought a CPA would have any knowledge or vision to comment on DSL vs Cable.
