Company Press Release

Sun River Appoints Mining Industry Veteran as CEO to Achieve Company
Goals

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 22, 1999--Sun River Mining, Inc. (OTC BB:
SUNR - news) is proud to announce the
appointment of Steven R. Davis of Evergreen, Colorado, as President and Chief
Executive Officer. Mr. Davis is a minerals
geologist with an extensive career in the mining industries of the United States, Canada,
and Latin America. His career includes
over 32 years of exploration, development and production activities, including a total of
20 years with ASARCO, Inc. (NYSE: AS - news) and Homestake Mining
Company (NYSE: HM - news), two of the nation's premier precious- and base-metals
mining companies, with extensive domestic and international operations. Mr.
Davis brings to Sun River valuable experience and insight into the minerals industry, as
well as a strong Latin American background.

Mr. Davis has held numerous management positions in his career, including Regional
Geologist, Manager of Exploration Projects and Manager of Central Great
Basin Exploration for Homestake Mining Company; Vice President of Exploration for
Mallon Resources (Costa Rica); and Director of Exploration/Vice President
of Operations for Zamora Gold Corp./ Comcumay, S.A. (Ecuador). While in these
positions, he has been responsible for the discovery and development of several
deposits, including substantial deposits of both precious and base metals.

With the assistance of Joseph R. Wojcik, formerly of Watts, Griffis and McOuat
Limited (Denver), the recently appointed Vice President of Exploration and Mining
Development for Sun River Mining, Mr. Davis will direct the ongoing company activities
in Bolivia, and initiate and maintain a research and evaluation effort for
identifying and acquiring other high-quality mineral properties in North, Central and
South America.

Former President Randy McCall will assume the position of Chief Financial Officer and
Treasurer of Sun River. Mr. McCall states, ''I am pleased to announce
these recent changes, and am very confident that with the addition of Mr. Davis and Mr.
Wojcik, Sun River now has the technical expertise necessary to advance
the present projects and move the company toward its goals of asset growth and
near-term gold production.''

Anticipating the end of the rainy season in Bolivia, Sun River personnel have established
an exploration and development program for their Challana Gold Project.
The planned program includes an exploration and bulk sampling effort in the known
gold-bearing horizon and a resumption of production from existing workings.
Sun River will replace the existing cobble sluice with a modern trommel and sluice
separation system for enhanced recovery. The program will also include a series of
raises and drifts to explore for possible gold-bearing horizons above the presently
known mineral zones.

Effective immediately, Mr. Davis's resume may be viewed at the Company's website:
