CJ,

Thanks for your comments. In next few days I'll try to get some information together to address some of your comments. For example, about the situation with 86 evaluators.

I know that Osicom breaks down the list of evaluators in three groups. Those in phase one or two are generally in the earlier stages of evaluation. Those in phase three are the one who may actually be lab testing the equipment or closer to actual deployment.

Last Thursday (3/11/99), the company conducted a quarterly conference call. You may find some of the things discussed there useful and informative. Here is the link for voice recording and the transcript of the conference call:

Additionally, I would suggest that you visit FIBR thread on RagingBull website. That is a lot more active site with numerous participants who are very well informed about Osicom and its technologies.

In the mean time here is a new article about NETSilicon in March 15 issue of EETimes:

CJ,

Some additional information regarding GigaMux evaluators. The company breaks down evaluators in 3 catagories/phases, and now keeps track of them internally:

Phase I - Request for Information
Phase II - Request for proposal
Phase III - Request for quote

Evaluations of physical equipment can happen in phase II and III. Physical product evaluations do not occur in all cases prior to the placement of a purchase order, however they are expected take place for large
telecommunicaitons service providers.

The last time the company made the information about various evaluators in these different phases public was in December 1998. Accordingly, as of October 28, 1998 the breakdown of 77 evaluators in different phases was:

Phase I - 35
Phase II - 20
Phase III - 22

For additional information about GigaMux, EPC and other complementary optical networking products, I would suggest visiting Osicom's website. They have two very informative slide presentations, one for GigaMux and the other for "DWDN". Here are the respective links:

I hope this is helpful. Good luck with your DD.
