Microsoft counter-attack focuses on AOL deal - NYT
NEW YORK, March 15 (Reuters) - When Microsoft Corp.'s
antitrust trial resumes in April, the software giant will
counter-attack by presenting evidence that suggests that America
Online Inc. <AOL.N> plans to become a head-on competitor, the
New York Times reported in its March 15 issue, citing people
close to the software giant.
The legal tactic focuses on America Online's decision to buy
Netscape Communications Corp.<NSCP.O> in a $4.2 billion deal and
its side deal to buy and jointly develop technology with Sun
Microsystems Inc. <SUNW.O>
The tentative list of executives Microsoft's legal team
plans to examine includes America Online's Stephen Case,
Netscape's Marc Andreesen and Sun Microsystems' William
Raduchel, a person close to the case told the newspaper.
