+OT+ (edit ) ps.. As for the system.ini , and the tip I gave on managing your
own virtual memory, ( I kept it simple not knowing you were use
to twiking win95 )
In Windows using the control panel , system, performance
victual memory, the min size only goes to 98meg.
-------------
Remember the trick is for the min and max to be set the same
well all windows does is write that to your system.ini file
and you can get around the min limit if you edit system.ini
your self.

under the [386.Enh] gang, likely at the bottom of it you will
find

device=vppsd.386
PagingDrive=C:
MinPagingFileSize=122880
MaxPagingFileSize=122880
----------------------------
( exactly the 12880 ) that's a 120meg ( as I'm running 48meg memory)
was 64meg but I stole 16 out for my daughter and it's still OK .
that's 2-1/2 times my memory but again the point is make the
Min & Max the same size, then win won't waste time
re-sizing the damm thing. On top of that it will stay unfragmented.
If you defrag first it helps.
-----------------
Another trick is
[vcache]
MinFileCache=4096 MaxFileCache=4096
------------
or what ever size you want, the default puts nothing under
[vcache]
and win resizes that also as it thinks is best,
try different sizes but here again make the min & max
the same.

PS
virtusoft.com
I run vramdir too, the registered version.
My hard drive light hardly ever comes on,
that's with FOUR browsers, two running java
programs and updating on the fly, and now I'm
also running
medved.net
and it's also updating on the fly.
--------------
Also im win.ini
COM4:=115200,n,8,1,p
or what ever COM your modem is on.
