Seems highly lkely that Murray as Chair & CEO and Gifford as Pres & COO will dump Citi, and maintain CKFR relationship!

The move represents a coup for Terrence Murray, Fleet's chief executive officer, the straight-talking son of a Woonsocket, R.I., factory worker. Mr. Murray, who has made more than 50 bank acquisitions, would remain as chairman and CEO of the combined company.

Chad Gifford, BankBoston's chairman and CEO, would be president and chief operating officer of the merged bank. He would take over as CEO at the end of 2001 and as chairman a year later.

After the transaction, Fleet shareholders would own 62% of the combined company; BankBoston shareholders, 38%. The company will have 22 directors, with 12 from Fleet's board, 10 from BankBoston's
