Micron Europe Ltd. today announced that it has signed a distribution agreement with SEI, pan-European distribution group. Under the new agreement, SEI will distribute Micron's full line of semiconductor memory components throughout Europe.

The pact with SEI follows a similar move by Micron in the U.S. which last year franchised SEI's U.S. affiliate, Marshall Industries. Marshall is a longtime distributor for Texas Instruments Inc., which sold its DRAM business to Micron in 1998.

Established in 1976 by the Sonepar Group, and with network sales of over $ 900 million, the Netherlands-based SEI is one of the largest European controlled distributor of electronic components. To serve the requirements of customers and suppliers throughout the world, SEI has strategic business alliances with Marshall Industries, based in El Monte, Calif., and Serial Systems, based in Singapore.

The SEI group offers sales coverage in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovenia, Slovakia, South-Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the UK.

Micron Europe Ltd. (MEL) is the European subsidiary of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc., a Boise, Id.-based manufacturer of DRAMs, very fast SRAMs, Flash, other semiconductor components, memory modules, personal computer systems, and radio frequency identification (RFID) products.
