TAVA Technologies has created a repository of hardware, software, and other specialized products that may be impacted by the 'Year 2000 Bug'. The repository is the culmination of over three years of research and development in support of various Year 2000 initiatives. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How was the information collected? The compliance information was obtained directly from the vendors either by letter or the vendors published Year 2000 compliance status on their Internet Web sites. The process for collection, review, and update of compliance information has been progressing for over three years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How many items are in the database? The answer to this question keeps increasing. The repository continues to grow as information is made available from the vendors and is entered into the database. As of September 29, 1998 there were in excess of 60,000 entries in the database. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How current is the information? The repository is updated daily as new compliance status information becomes available. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How do I know my purchase is safe? All financial information, including credit-card data, is transferred via the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocol. This industry-standard protocol provides strong encryption for data transfer, making it virtually impossible to view data while being sent. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How are the products sent to me? Products are directly downloaded in Rich-Text Format once purchase information is validated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------How do you keep track of my order while shopping? Like most online storefronts, this web site uses cookies to keep track of your order as you move through the site. It is seen only by our server and by your browser. If you have cookies disabled on your browser, you will not be able to use the shopping-cart system. If you'd like, you can enable cookies while you browse, and then disable them when you leave. ------------------------------------------------------------------------What discounts are offered, and who is eligible? Discounts are offered to customers which buy via purchase order instead of by credit card. This has to be worked out ahead of time with the sales department. ------------------------------------------------------------------------I still don't feel comfortable using my credit card on the web, or I can't use a credit card due to purchasing regulations at my institution. What now? You may use the following method if the total amount of your purchase is $500 or more. 1. Browse the store and shop as usual. 2. When you checkout, you will be presented with the option to print out your order. 3. After printing, you can fax your order into us, with a credit card number or valid PO for your organization (PO must be issued on official institution letterhead). This option is only available for our customers in the US and Canada - sorry! ------------------------------------------------------------------------I'm looking in the repository for our particular software package and I can't find it. Why not and what should I do? There could be several reasons for this. It is possible the software package you are looking for does not meet the criteria for being included in the repository. It may be a non-business application or an application that is specific to a given industry. It is also possible that software is specific to your company. Many utility programs and even unique programming languages have been developed to meet the needs of individual companies. Only the developers of that software will know the specific compliance data for that software. Another reason could be that the common name for a product is not the official name assigned by the vendor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------I found a vendor where there is only one product record. I know they have many products. What does this mean? This may indicate that the vendor made a compliance statement that applies to all of their products, regardless of version. You can read their statement in the "Notes" area. ------------------------------------------------------------------------What does it mean when a field is underlined? When a displayed field is underlined and in a different color than the other text on the screen, this indicates that a "link" exists between the underlined item and a different location on the Internet. To follow the link, place your cursor on the underlined item and click. The links for vendor names will take you to the vendor page with all the products listed. The product links will take you to the information about a specific product. >>> --Dennis
