A couple Dell threadsters have talked about the following fact:

Apparently, Dell pays a royalty payment to IBM of 1% on practically every box that they sell....it looks like the new IBM-Dell agreement eliminates this payment (either partially or totally)..One threadster calculated that Dell's EPS last quarter would have gone from .31 to .34 (.336) had this agreement been in effect...

Any idea if this (1%) payment is in effect? Is this a typical IBM-type agreement? Does it make sense to you that Dell could have negotitated away..and if so, what would then be your take on the deal...
