Study in Epilepsy Patients Using Low Level Magnetic Fields Started at the University of Oklahoma BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BW HealthWire)--March 22, 1999--Jacobson Resonance Enterprises Inc. (OTC BB:JRSE) announced Monday that the effect of low frequency, low level magnetic fields on seizure frequency of epilepsy patients will be tested using the Jacobson Resonator at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The informed consent document and the protocol utilizing Jacobson Resonance methodology have been approved for the feasibility study by the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's Institutional Review Board (IRB). Subject enrollment is ongoing, baseline studies are conducted to track patient's seizure activity before treatment, and patient treatment has begun. Dr. Kalarickal Oommen is the principal investigator and is director of Epilepsy Research at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. Epilepsy is a recurrent disorder caused by sudden, abnormal excessive and synchronous discharges of aggregations of cerebral neurons. It is hypothesized that if neurons could be brought into a greater coherence and harmony with total brain function then we could successfully treat epilepsy. Thus, it is hoped that the uniform, physiologic magnetic field created by the Jacobson Resonator will restore a normal magnetic profile to the epileptic brain, thus enhancing better communication between the brain's cells and molecules. Professor of Medicine, William S. Yamanashi -- a member of the scientific Advisory Board for JRSE, built and is monitoring the Jacobson Resonator for this study. Dr. Yamanashi and chairman and CEO Dr. Jerry Jacobson, have published theoretical analyses together in peer reviewed scientific periodicals to explain the possible underlying physical mechanisms which may provide a new, non-invasive, painless method to treat various neurological disorders.
