I would say that depending on your portfolio you should probably have some representation in the small caps, at least the 16% or so underwheighted position Bob was talking about since if this pathetic bunch ever really moves it can move so fast at the start that it could make it difficult to get in. Obviously if you have a bunch in a Total Market Index fund you are getting some decent representation in the small caps. My preference has been to use SPYders and some small cap fund to give me more flexibilty over holding the Total Market Index. I do think there are decent small cap funds that can beat the Russell 2000 easier than it is for some large funds to beat the S&P500, I've just lost confidence in MNMCX as being one of them. Also I think some of the funds brought up previously like a Von Wagoner fund where he's a gunslinger with a huge turnover rate and it's either a fat feast or starvation famine is not what I'd be looking for personally. BSCFX has a short history but has been doing well for a small cap fund lately and if I sell MNMCX I may put some more in there. By the way Dean if you're in the city at the moment is it still snowing or has it turned to rain? My parents are visiting there at the moment and I'm not looking for them to fall Marc
