One of the things not mentioned in the release is that Allen founded Starwave (espn.com, nfl.com, nba.com, Mr. Showbiz). Disney bought it from him as part of the deal with Infoseek that created the Go network. So he has plenty of experience with this kind of thing. At most of the companies Allen owns, he seems to be pretty good at letting the managers run the outfits. (Rumor has it that Asymetrix is an exception.)

Since he owns teams in both leagues, maybe he could even help them snare the football and basketball league sites away from Starwave/Infoseek/Go. Allen also has a very interesting music museum site at experience.org that really shows off what folks he hires can do with high-bandwidth sites.
