As of 12/98:

Client''''''''''''''''''Held'''''% Outstanding''''Latest Change
1)Dimensional Fund'''''799,000'''''2.64''''''''''''+665,600
2)BZW Barclays'''''''''419,650'''''1.38''''''''''''+129,456
3)Bankers Trust''''''''410,300'''''1.35''''''''''''- 1,400
4)James E. White'''''''390,150'''''1.29''''''''''''''''unch.
5)Portola Group''''''''390,050'''''1.29''''''''''''- 75,560
6)TIAA Cref Invmt''''''336,300'''''1.11''''''''''''+153,300
7)Spears Benzak''''''''150,552''''''.50''''''''''''-243,000
8)Steven Markman'''''''138,754''''''.46''''''''''''''''unch.
etc. (my fingers are getting tired.)

I got this from Bloomberg. Generally, funds file 13F's quarterly,
so this info is as of 12/98 and shows any changes for that quarter.

I looked up the TIAA portfolio in detail. They own 1000's of stocks,
so I wouldn't make a big deal about a $1.5mm investment in a several
billion dollar fund. They are just diversifying their holdings.

It is disappointing to see such little ownership by Markman and White. I bet a few of us have close to that many shares...

About 13% of shares outstanding are held by institutions according to the latest filing (12/98).

Hope this helps.

TIAA-CREF does not knowingly invest in losing propositions.

BTW, Robert, can you get me a list of those fund managers that knowing invest in losing propositions? I'll be sure to avoid what they invest in.
