Window

I looked out the window at dawn and saw a young apple tree translucent in brightness.

And when I looked out at dawn once again, an apple laden with fruit stood there.

Many years had probably gone by but I remember nothing of what happened in my sleep.

Czeslaw Milosz

[and I remember nothing of what Milosz said! Sort of departmental chit chat sort of thing...]

[the blackberries...how dear, what a sweet poem! I am partial to black berries, not least of all because doing the standard urban refugee thing and all that labor, now I just freeze fruit for winter...as everyone else does in the country! And blackberries are the easiest of all...my neighbor told me they abound in our joint forest, although they fizzled out this last season...eom on blackberries...and probably Milosz as well!]
