Yeah, I have someone I can call at least if the darn machine hangs there.

I was trying to do a covered write very close to the close on Friday -- bought the stock and the market and put in the order to sell the option at the market, too -- then I got one of those messages- PENDING APPROVAL -- kind of panicked that I might not get the call sold cause I didn't want to just hold it as a long. Called and the guys got it through right away.

I guess with these electronic brokers someone has to check and see if there is sufficient inventory to fill your short? I think you have to get a good broker (close to full service) to get decent execution on shorts. Most of the shorts I've requested with my current broker have been turned down. I just don't try on the lesser known issues.

You'd think AMAT is such an issue where they'd be virtually guaranteed of having sufficient inventory to just go ahead and execute the order for you.

My broker has a real problem with the options the day after a split, too. They just never seem to get the new symbols entered so they can be traded.
