It really didn't get down that low...perhaps 15%, because they didn't hit their lows simultaneously, plus I averaged down in a couple cases. I was up around 70% for the year after I sold out in January, so the half I still manage never went into the red.

Remember, I split off half to US Trust which they kept mostly in cash during that period, so that gave me confidence. Knowing the companies certainly helps too.
