Thanks, Dennis. And, no, I did not read the post about quality being potentially phone unit-dependent, but I will. I doubt it's the phone, though, as I've had terrific calls lasting 10-15 minutes with parties in the Middle East, etc., earlier in the year. This could simply be a temporary problem.

I've queried a number of Iridium retailers, whose names I pulled off the internet, about how many phones they have, how many they're selling, etc. The common response is that they have a lot of availability; not good. I'd rather hear that they are sold out, but that my name will go on a list to be in line to get a phone.

I did hear that the Kyocera phones are (finally) shipping today. But I also heard that some large debt holders are somewhat nervous about their exposure. If that's true, shouldn't the equity holders be even more nervous?

I said in a post last November that, while I was exceedingly enthusiastic about my Iridium phone and the company, I would do penance on this board if I was proved wrong. Ergo: "Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!"

I'd like to hear more informed commentary on this subject. I believe Goodboy has been quite perceptive here...

CALL QUALITY MESSAGE: I have been told that a comment I made on March 14th about the quality of my Iridium calls being somewhat degraded from a month ago has elicited some fairly wild and irresponsible speculation on the YAHOO Iridium message board. So, if I may, let me make a brief statement that should clarify what I said:

The Iridium phone that I possess has been used to make about 50 calls since December (now you know I'm not a globe-circling tycoon). Until recently, it was rare that I dropped a call. In the past couple of weeks, I've had about 3 drops in 6 calls. Perhaps my location had something to do with it, I don't know. This is NOT a sufficient statistical sample to form an opinion from, and if you read my post you will notice I did not - I invited comment.

So to all of those on the YAHOO board who made a big deal out of this: I'm glad you don't post here.
