Hi Darrell:

> I sense that you have suffered some perceived persecution or discrimination since you have been in the US.

On the contrary I have never felt any discrimination made against me because of my national origin. Not even during the hostage crisis back in 1979-1980 when I was just a freshman at University of Minnesota. In fact people did sympethise with me and I was looked upon with a special care! I spent my last year in high school at a private Catholic military high school in St. Paul Minnesota (by the name of St. Thomas Academy). It was 1979 and despite all the anti American sentiments coming out of Iran and being reported by the US media, I was treated with great respect here in the U.S. And during the past 20 years of being in this country I have never felt ever any discrimination made against me.

You state:
> the philosophy of the Democrats is to maintain or acquire power regardless of the method or the cost. They will resort to almost any unscrupulous method to win an election. This includes outright lies, distortions of the truth, redistribution of income, disrespect for the law (if it has a negative effect on a Democrat...Clinton), and pandering to all minorities and special interest groups in order to buy their votes. These tactics are unethical and should be illegal, but it is the way of the Democratic party.

hmmmm.... And are you implying that the Republican party behaves differently (in any form or shape) from what you described above?!!! The fact is what you just described is exactly how the 2 party systems operate in the U.S. and there is absolutely no difference between the Republicans and Democrats when it comes to lying, cheating and unethical behavior. The only difference is in how often they are exposed and to what extend. For every Republican unethical behavior there is one unethical behavior by the Democrats, and vise versa. You can not possibly say that one party is better than the other when it comes to lying and resorting to almost any unscrupulous method to win an election.

You state:
> The Republicans would love to have a greater minority representation and that might happen some day.

Oh I am sure the Republican party would love to have a greater minority representation (such as Women, non-whites, gays, lesbians, and in general all human beings of all races, colors, national origin, sex and religious backgrounds). However the truth of the matter is the very definition of the republican philosophy in the late 1990's defines the party to be a members only club. If Abraham Lincoln were alive today he would not call himself a Republican. In contrast if you look at the democratic party and how Clinton has managed to position it in the center, it is very much similar to how the Republican party was back in the good old days when being a Republican meant to be a true American.

In any event, politics, like religion, is a man made entity that deals with human emotions and thoughts. And because of that, extreme polarization can take place within the society. As long as this polarization is within the law all sides can and will prosper. Fortunately we are living in a country that law does rule the land, hence regardless of how polarized we all become, we all continue to prosper greatly.
