Jay, As far as I know, CyBerBroker clears through Penson Financial Services. And that's it. No relationship that I know of with DLJ. And, the complete short list is fairly extensive with most of the big names included. For those small obscure issues to which you refer, you can either request shares through a quick phone call or, more easily, send an "instant message" through the "Communicator" module built-into CyBerTrader. It's easy and it's quick. I have many times obtained shares I wanted within minute, no phone call required. And I agree fully with your strategy of shorting obscure, briefly hyped (and soon forgotten) high flyers. I am now optimizing my AIQ system to filter these stocks daily for shorting consideration.
