Here's an article in the STAGES: The Fidelity Investments Magazine of Personal Finance magazine I received today.A New Twist on Bills The future of billing isn't on paper. Many banks, utilities, telecommunications, and credit card companies already offer paperless billing. How it works: You receive, for example, your electric bill via e-mail or by logging on the company's Web site--then pay it electronically. Among the companies currently offering bill presentation (or planning to this year) are American Express, AT&T , Banc One, BellSouth , Boston Gas, Chase, Citibank , Edison International, First USA, Florida Light & Power, GTE, KeyBank, Mellon Bank, Northeast Utilities , PNC, Southern California Edison , and Union Electric. Check with your credit card company, utility, bank, or other creditor to see if they offer the service. Of the 17 companies/banks listed, 10 are CKFR customers (according to the CKFR web site). I assumed "Florida Light & Power" is the same as Florida Power & Light . Also, is Banc One different from Bank One ? Also in the magazine was an article stating it's just as safe to transmit credit card numbers over the Internet (secure sites, of course) as it is to provide numbers over the phone, or in the mail. Lots of eyes read this magazine...lots of eyes that question the security of the Internet. It doesn't mean more business for CKFR, but people have to feel safe enough to give out a credit card number over the Internet before they feel safe enough to bank over the Internet. This must be the third or fourth time I've seen electronic billing mentioned in magazine articles and I don't read that many magazines. Word is definitely getting out. Jody
