We are in perfect agreement. I was going to comment on the Creative blurb too, but thought to save it for CREAF thread. How can an anouncement be unexpected when people knew about it in advance?

My remark about the Viper 770's lack of an announced LCD interface was not clear. I should have said that the press release makes no mention of an LCD >> connector <<. In fact, I looked back at the press release and didn't find any mention of a TV-out connector either. This means one of two things. Either the Viper 770 will not have TV-out or Diamond has finalized the board configuration. Both would be good news to TDFX. In the former case, the V3-3000 will be $50 cheaper than the Viper 770 and have an additional TV-out connector. That gives consumers even more to think about when comparing the two products. It will also make the V3-3500 more attractive to SOME buyers even if the V3-3500 is slower than the Viper 770. If Diamond has not decided on the final board configuration, then the Viper 770 is more likely to ship late May than early May. The drivers cannot be completed without knowing the final board configuration. The drivers and software bundle must then be tested with a prototype of the final board configuration. This is not a small task.
