Non marginable may be one reason. BCST was also dropped from the pick list of many newsletters recently. That may have been contributed to its slow down as well....

I don't think this the whole reason. Not for amzn at least. AMZN has extremely low volume when it is flat or dropping. Traders have no use for it unless it is going up. So usually down periods have very low volume.
