Well, certainly I think it is ethical to declare whether you own a particular stock (or have shorted it) when you are giving your opinion on it. However, it is my belief that fuller disclosure is necessary only if you are a broker, although I do not really know the law here.

Maybe one of our attorneys (almost everyone here is an attorney!) will give you a more learned opinion, QuietWon.

Somehow, I missed the inauguration of this thread, which I shall bookmark. It is true that there are some appalling shysters posting on the various bulletin boards. Your statement, however, might exclude the professionals associated with the investment business who do post as well as lurk. Their information can be valuable while helping to keep the standards high.
