Former Oracle Executive to Focus on Furthering Top-Line Growth

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 1999--Informix(R) Corp., (Nasdaq:IFMX) the technology leader in
enterprise database-powered solutions, today announced the appointment of Philip L. Rugani as vice president, North America sales.
Rugani, leveraging his world-class knowledge of direct and indirect sales channels and strategies, will play an important role in
Informix's ongoing efforts to further increase top-line revenue growth. He will report to Jean-Yves Dexmier, executive vice president,
field operations.
Before joining Informix, Rugani was group vice president of Oracle Corp.'s General Business and Alliances organization for the
Americas. He successfully created and led the company's first organization that focused on the mid-range market. His success in
creating a profitable partner-centric sales model, along with a motivated and driven organization, resulted in dramatic increases in sales
of database technologies as well as ERP and financial applications.
