Democrats Angrily Oppose Republican Efforts to Cut Government Waste WASHINGTON, DC - While House Republicans are talking about passing legislation that would cut government waste, Democrats are savagely denouncing the Republican plan as "nothing more than a mean-spirited scheme to give more money back to the American people." Said House Minority Leader, Dick Gephardt (D-MO), "Once again the Republicans have resorted to partisan politics by trying to take away the right of certain Americans to receive large sums of money in the form of wasteful government spending. Those people who are currently benefiting from over-billing the Federal Government would be financially ruined if the Republicans get their way."
