William: I like your support of Michael and his board. They are a very wise team. IMHO, DELL will not merge. I have heard Michael say on a number of occasions that DELL will grow organically -- on their own. Yet, he has said DELL will aggressively partner with suppliers and customers. I feel that the IBM alliance is just taking virtual integration to another level. Michael does not want the overhead or inefficiency of a large organization like IBM. He clearly is interested in their R & D and global services capability. The only way I see DELL doing an acquisition is if it is a small firm that has strategic technology for a major DELL marketplace (like storage). I could possibly see DELL buy a firm like Network Appliance and help it reach its full potential by leveraging the full power of the DELL business model. Yet, this firm is very entrepreneurial and only has a $3 billion market cap. My hunch is that DELL will choose to continue to partner with companies like Network Appliance -- and form a symbiotic relationship.

I have tremendous faith in Michael, Mort, Kevin Rollins, Tom Meredith and the rest of the DELL team. They will continue to make wise decisions as they grow into a larger organization. Shareholder interests are always carefully considered in "the ownership culture" at DELL<ggg> !!!

Best Regards,

Scott
