SAFLINK Announces OEM
Agreement with Home Shopping
Network; Electronic Retailer to Ship
SAFtyLatch with PC's Sold On-air

TAMPA, Fla., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- SAFLINK Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of
The National Registry Inc. (NRI) (Nasdaq: NRID - news), today announced an original equipment
manufacturer (OEM) agreement with electronic retailer Home Shopping Network (HSN), a USA
company (Nasdaq: USAI - news), to ship SAFtyLatch(TM) security software with personal
computers featured on HSN's specialty electronics shows.

SAFtyLatch is an advanced data security application for Windows 95/98 that features unparalleled
ease-of-use and iron-clad, biometrics-based protection of computer data using speaker verification
technology from Lernout and Hauspie NV (Nasdaq: LHSPF - news) that analyzes the unique digital
characteristics of the human voice to positively identify authorized SAFtyLatch users. Once
identified, users have access to a powerful file encryption program that prevents accidental or
deliberate access to confidential data stored on their PC.

Speaker verification eliminates the need to remember or change passwords that can be easily
guessed, stolen, or otherwise compromised. Recognized users simply select the file folders they
would like to secure and the data within those folders is instantaneously and transparently encrypted
onto the PC's hard drive and other storage media, including ZIP, Jazz, SparQ, network drives, and
floppy drives. Existing file folders can be protected, or new folders can be secured as they are
created, through familiar extensions to Windows Explorer. SAFtyLatch supports multiple users of a
single PC, each with their own set of file folders, and protected file folders can be shared by a select
number of users.

''SAFtyLatch offers our customers a convenient, state-of-the-art solution for protecting the
important information stored on their home office and family computers,'' said Jim Carlsruh, Vice
President, Merchandise Manager for HSN. ''Using your voice to identify yourself is user-friendly for
the whole family and we believe our audience will quickly understand the benefits of this technology
when they see it demonstrated by our show hosts.'' HSN anticipates that the first computers to be
offered with SAFtyLatch will air in April.

''When people see how biometrics work they get excited,'' said Jeffrey P. Anthony, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer of SAFLINK Corporation. ''Reading about SAFtyLatch in a magazine or
from the product packaging is not nearly as powerful as seeing a live demonstration, and television is
an extremely cost effective way for SAFLINK to create a positive and lasting impression with a
broad consumer audience. HSN is a leader in this market and is one of the few retailers that can
reach millions of prospective customers with a single demonstration,'' said Anthony.

Home Shopping Network pioneered the electronic retailing industry in 1977 and its 24-hour
programming reaches 70 million households via cable, broadcast television and satellite dishes
world-wide. In the month of January, HSN sold and shipped over $4.3 million of computers on its
High Technology Home, Cutting-edge Technology, and Home Office Technology shows. Home
Shopping Network holds interests in shopping channels in Germany and Japan and recently launched
Home Shopping en Espanol, a joint venture with Univision.
