Gary, I agree that one year of bad performance, mentioned all by itself with no reference to previous years, is a cheap shot. But you are in the biz. It happens and not everyone who makes the comment is necessarily an enemy. I do think he played fast and loose on the ethical front when he pulled his gaff about the internut stock on CNBS. Or, at least his explanation was full of holes. The concept that he was inarticulate and didn't know what he was saying is suspect. "I'm going to short it" is simply not the same as "I'm going to check to see what a short sale would look like by calling the trading desks." And I don't blame the crappy co. that got blindsided for raising the issue. MB
