ATI's RAGE(TM) LT PRO mobile graphics accelerator selected by Compaq for new Presario Consumer ''Value Line'' of
Internet Notebook PCs

ATI graphics power all ranges of Compaq notebook PCs

TORONTO, March 16 /CNW/ - ATI Technologies Inc. (TSE:ATY; NASDAQ:ATYT)
today announced that the RAGE(TM) LT PRO mobile accelerator has been selected
by Compaq Computer Corporation for the new Compaq Presario 1675, 1670 and 1270
''Value Line'' of Internet Notebook PCs.
The RAGE LT PRO is matched in the latest Compaq notebooks with the newest
380MHz and 350MHz AMD-K6(R)-2 mobile processors with 3DNow!Technology.
Intended to deliver the latest technologies, and state-of-the-art multimedia,
the new Compaq Presario notebooks are value-oriented systems designed for
professionals, students, and others who want to use Internet and
PC-entertainment applications at home, and on the go.
With this most recent design win from Compaq, ATI's RAGE LT PRO
accelerator now drives the graphics and multimedia applications of notebooks
across all ranges of Compaq mobile PCs, in the Armada, Prosignia, as well as
Presario lines.
''This is a landmark design win for ATI's mobile products,'' said Vincent
Win, Vice President, Strategic Sales and Business Development, ATI
Technologies Inc. ''It clearly shows that ATI is not just a high-end mobile
graphics supplier, and that high performance graphics is becoming a user
demand across all notebook segments.''

ATI's RAGE LT PRO provides a long list of industry firsts for mobile
accelerators
The highly integrated design of the RAGE LT PRO saves both the cost of
using separate components, as well as board space. The first mobile
accelerator to integrate the Low Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS)
transmitter chip for LCD panels, the RAGE LT PRO also uses ATI's advanced
power management system, a block-by-block power control, which results in
lower power dissipation, helping to achieve longer battery life. The RAGE LT
PRO also offers ''Filtered Ratiometric Expansion,'' which automatically
adjusts images to full-screen size. ATI's industry-leading TV-out technology,
ImpacTV2+(TM), is integrated with the RAGE LT PRO to support multi-screen
viewing, i.e. simultaneous outputs to TV, CRT and LCD. In addition, the RAGE
LT PRO can drive two displays with different images and/or refresh rates with
the use of integrated dual, independent CRT controllers.
