Not knowing anything about TMMI and MP3, I have heard that music companies are moving very hard (and quickly) to find a format that will allow CD quality music to be sent over the internet while protecting the rights of the artists and publishers. Compression and encryption would both play an important part in any such format. The designers of MP3 are currently working on an MP4.

One company is currently working on a format that will allow the music file to be played ONLY on the computer that it is originally downloaded to. Copying the file to a removable disk, or sending via email will render the file unusable.
