Tench,

Re: "As I argued again and again, people aren't buying AMD chips because they have "some of the best CPU's on the market." They're buying AMD chips for two reasons:

1) They're cheap
2) They're ABI (Anything But Intel)"

You are DEAD wrong!

Folks prefer the K6-2 brand to the Celeron brand.
They also prefer the K6-2 to the cheaper Cyrix parts as well as the IDT and Rise chips.

Even after Intel slashed Celery 300/333/366 prices in January AMD has gained market share. They would have gained much more if they had not screwed up the manufacturing.

And KIII's are selling very well and maintaining prices - unfortunately our AMD friends can't manufacture enough of them.
In fact KIII's are at a premium over a 400Mhz PII.

Regards,

Kash Johal

I really want to say that you are 100 wrong, but after Burt's lecture I will say that I respectfully disagree. I just don't see it that way from my perspective. :-)
