Then I'll bet it wasn't codeine or Darvon or even Vicodin - the usual "mild" narcotics.
The big league oral narcotics are Demerol, Dilaudid, Percocet and of course morphine tabs. I might be missing one or two.

I realize it wouldn't have helped the pain, but why didn't you use a wheelchair for ease in perambulation?

Oh, I did. A legs-up one. For six months. It was interesting. Long, too. Did I mention my wife is a saint? I wrote some stories about it, around here somewhere, before I found DAR and S.I. AND STARTED MY NEW SIT-DOWN-FULL-TIME JOB!!!!!!
