Rawn and ALL: GOOD NEWS. X11R6.4 has recently been re-licensed as previously done under X.org (i.e. it is open) by the Open Group (per xfree.org) which means xfree.org will be making a free open source version of xfree86 using X11R6.4. As a result all of these low-bandwidth and remote operation facilities associated with X11R6.4 will start showing up in the Linux distributions (Red Hat, Caldera, etc.). These facilities were being stalled by a proprietory licensing agreement the Open Group had placed on X when it was shifted from x.org.

No wonder all the "proprietary junkies" are squeeling about "how bad" X is on this thread. We're about ready do get some "cool", free remote application capabilities in Linux including remote multi-operating system execution via "VMWARE" and X.
