Well it looks like Guillemot just announced their TNT Vanta product:

$70 for a 8mb board. Looks like nVidia is going after S3 with this one. I wonder how well in Europe 3dfx (now with the small cap 'D') will do.

MAXI GAMER PHOENIX 2
Successor to the award-winning Maxi Gamer Phoenix, Maxi Gamer Phoenix 2 has improved on both speed and graphics. Maxi Gamer Phoenix 2 is designed with the 2D/3D 128-bit Twin-Texel RIVA Vanta™ chipset – the latest generation of graphics boards. The Maxi Gamer Phoenix 2 offers 8MB 125MHz SDRAM and can dedicate the entire on-board RAM to the frame buffer thanks to its AGP 4X/2X interface with full side band texturing (up to 900MB/s in AGP 4X mode). Its advanced 2D engine performs fast 32-bit VGA/SVGA displays and extends resolutions up to 1920x1080 in 16 million colors. The chipset also renders two pixels per clock cycle for extraordinary fill rate results and advanced multi-texturing effects (such as bump mapping in one clock). Maxi Gamer Phoenix 2 combines all the necessary features to meet the requirements of the demanding home computer market at the extraordinary priceof $69.99 (SRP).

With this mainstream 2D/3D card, PC users no longer have to make a compromise in their choice of integrated graphics for their most popular 3D games, their Web browsing or their 2D business applications.

Is it just me, or does 3dfx get cooler and cooler. Monkeys aside, the ad agencies seem to be doing pretty well. It's hard to think of 3dfx as just a board company anymore. I like the 'less tech' emphasis on the products. And hitting the NCAA championships, stroke of genius. Massively expensive probably, but a stroke of genius.

Voodoo Review interesting tidbit:

<<CompUSA (the largest hardware distributor) said that the Voodoo3 presale has been their largest presale of hardware ever.>>

Last time I was there they weren't taken them at the store, so this is probably E-tail and Compusa is sort of new to this but ... largest presale of hardware sounds sweet. Joe C.
