You have yet to show me that SSE will be of no benefit even for these onboard geometry engines. Don't forget that SSE also includes cache-streaming instructions as well as eight new 128-bit registers, each of which can hold the standard 4x1 vector used in 3-D graphics. And you'll still want to do some matrix calculations with those vectors before passing them to the peripheral geometry engines.

This kind of reminds me of all those arguments about how useless AGP will be because all textures are going to be stored locally on the graphics card. Now even Tom Uberclockermeister considers AGP-texturing to be important in his latest TNT2 preview (http://www4.tomshardware.com/releases/99q1/990312/index.html). I guess Intel's efforts into AGP were more useful than the detractors thought. The same goes for SSE's usefulness in the high-end graphics workstation market.
