vulcan ventures owns cnet

They don't have anything near controlling interest, but they do have a stake in both CNet and ZDNet (through its parent, Ziff-Davis). An article on ZDNet yesterday noted in passing that Allen may try to bring Go2Net and CDNet closer together:

"Bill Savoy, president of Vulcan Ventures, said Go2Net will be the glue that binds Vulcan's cable offerings with the narrowband world.

"'The fact that Go2Net is out there in the narrowband world makes it easy to enter into broadband,' said Savoy, who added Go2Net would be introduced to other Vulcan investments such as CNet Inc. 'Go2Net gives us the opportunity to tie together the portfolio.'""
