You're right, my mistake about 80 gallons it is only 40. It doesn't alter Cole's point that retail gasoline has maningi taxes. In UK gas retails at 65P a litre, in Canada it is around 50c Cdn a litre. So a 30% increase in oil should not mean 30% at the retail pump. If it does governments are gouging.

The main reason that gasoline will go up much less than crude in Europe and the US is the fact that much of the retail prices is sales tax. In Europe sales taxes account for most of the retail price.
