Judging by the way the stock is dropping, this deal may not go through. If it keeps going, the two acquisitions will effectively be taking over Ciena....

Oh, come on, it's not that bad. Maybe if CIEN drops well below 20 over the next few days, but I don't really think that's going to happen.

CIEN has been sort of a "wait and see" story ever since its meltdown. Now it's even more of one. I don't know enough to have an opinion on the merit of these acquisitions, but I was heartened that one analyst was enthusiastic.

I'll hold for 6 months to a year, but bail pretty quickly if it looks as if things are not panning out. But I'll hold through a price decline that tracks a downturn in the general market.

Wouldn't go that far. Remember, two companies with not real revenue just go a mkt cap of $1 B between them. Even if it gets chopped by 1/3 that's still a very easy path to go public at a great valuation without all the work involved.
