I've only received a few calls on the phone. Apparently my friends don't think I'm worth $1.79 a minute. No complaints from unsuccessful calls, but my experience is limited since I am not what I would term a "working" subscriber. I bought the phone for two reasons: One, I thought the whole idea was fantastic, conceptually; and, two, to monitor the health of my investment. That latter reason was foolhardy in retrospect; I should have been watching the earthbound side of Iridium instead of the orbital side of it.

To be in a condition to receive calls, the phone must be on (standby mode). When it rings, just rotate the antenna to position, open the keypad cover and press "OK".

I've been reading the YAHOO Iridium board, and it's amazing the amount of irrelevant digression that goes on there. Is this what separates good boards from bad - the price of a subscription being measured in a few dollars?

Over on YAHOO, the posters are making a mountain out of the molehill of a post I made about a few dropped calls. I was questioning why this happened, but I am not alarmed by it. If it continues, I will be...

If anyone here cares to spend the time to do so, I suggest you go to the YAHOO board and tell those guys to worry about SUBSCRIBER NUMBERS AND BANK COVENANTS! A dropped call pales in comparison to a financial meltdown..
