Don't kill me -- I bought on Friday the 12th (I've had plenty others where I didn't get in at the bottom, just for balance).

My thought is, later in the year when people start thinking that maybe, even if Y2K is an overblown threat, "just in case maybe there's some chance of electronic communications being interrupted" people will probably crave the security of brick and mortar -- something they can touch.

On Friday I couldn't imagine that the stock could go any lower, but it has! It seems to have support at the current levels, though. This is one I'm going to ride, and I'd probably ride it even if I bought at twice the price.

OTOH, shopping at CPU is a freaking nightmare -- in all the years I've been going there I've NEVER encountered a knowledgeable sales rep. The ratio of sales people to customers is about 5 to 1, it seems, and yet you STILL can't get any service. But do I keep going back? Yup. Especially now that there's no Egghead.

So, even tho' the "leadership" of this company is seriously flawed, they would pretty much have to set fire to the place not to be able to stage some kind of a comeback.

Al Dunlap? That is about the dummest suggestion I've heard on this thread yet. The only thing that Al Dunlap is good for is laying people off and that is not what CPU needs right now. Besides, Dunlap was fired from Sunbeam for cooking the books and over stating their earnings. As a result of this, Sunbeam stock collapsed and Dunlap was fired by the Board and not even paid a severance package. The very SAME reason why you want CPU's board to fire Halpin. Apparently, laying people off only carries the bottom line so far. You still have to increase sales and margins too. What CPU needs is an astute business man who has experience in the computer field and knows how to optimize the efficiency of their operations.
