The full force and power of my being would be to help that child get ahead.< Well of course this is the issue, Ish. It is not the race of the child that is the great issue. It is the fact that that little green, white or black Ish is an Ish, and whatever its color you would kill or die for its benefit. Surely there are some who would overlook a child on the basis of race. But they are just missing out (unfortunately so is the child). Sitting here conversing on this issue, something just occurred to me. Somewhere in this world (my son fairly recently entered college), there is a young man who talks very similarly to me, thinks as I do, who has the same beliefs as I do, whose history is now my history, who enjoys the things I enjoy. This young man and I have done everything we could think to do together, had countless discussions on every imaginable topic (we both like to talk, debate, etc.) and he is black. Somewhere in this world, there exists a black Johannes Pilch. And that ought to send chills down the spine of people like Michelle. (grin)
