Yes, character matters and yes, those with character rise above all that. Those with character never run for office. Anyone with any modicum of decency and honesty does not run for national public office. Take Colin Powell, an honorable and decent man that justifiably thought twice about running for President. I dont agree with many of his positions, but one must admit he had character. How many people of character can you pick off the Hill? Bet you can count them on one hand, if not one finger.
