The government is no longer paying on debt owed to foreign banks, even though they co-signed on Chinese companies' notes. There are other issues involved as well, such as forced nationalization of certain percentages of joint ventures. The political climate in China is very anti-free market vis-a-vis capitalistic. I would caution against anyone investing in Chinese companies operating under a communist regime.
